Thoughts: Illusion of the coincidence

It’s not the first time that I noticed something happening the way it did today. I went into a bookstore and saw one of the most remarkable titles of U.S. American literature history: Mark Twain’s “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” (1884).

So what’s strange about it you may ask now. Well look at the date and ask Wiki what happened 100 years ago. My question:

Why did I see this book lying on bookshelf between hundreds of other, left it where it was after reading the back cover of it and wend back to buy it?! I also bought two other books by the way, but the focus lied on the title of Mark Twain. Why do I start reading this book today on the one hundreds day of death of Mark Twain. I just heart something about the authors commemoration day a few days ago. I already read parts of the book as a child. How ever… this night I’ll make a journey back in time for some hours.

Thought: Future

Everyone is talking about the future, be it of it’s own plans or dreams or if men will fly to the moon again in the next few years. But, there is just a small minority that has realized that it’s nearly done with our future, if we’re not gonna change our way of life. There won’t be a great future filled with dreams and flying space shuttles for the human kind, without acting NOW!

Thoughts: 2 more or less complex questions

  1. Would we care more about our world, thus mother nature and the entire humanity, if we would know that we won’t die?!
  2. We know that our brain is able to send and receive electromagnetic frequencies, so why wouldn’t déjà vu’s be parts of other lives from alternative realities?

Feel free to share your thoughts and results. I’ll do the same in a few days from today.

Greetings,

Prometheus

Thought: How right the man was…

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.

Thought: Social Networks (1) – Twitter (Part 1)

A few days ago, a friend of mine asked me: “What do you think about Twitter?”

I have to confess, that I’m not a very great fan of social networks like Facebook, Hi5, MySpace and so on, but Twitter means something else to me.

Although Twitter isn’t a social network like the other ones, it’s more like a split personality – half blog half social network. It’s a micro-blogging service in which one is able to add friends and this is one of the points why Twitter is also seen as a social network and not only as a micro-blogging. Personally I think, that it’s crazy to publish every new action done in real life into a blog or micro-blog, but if that is the intention of the user, why not. But exactly this question why not is the point on which I will be responsive to.

Twitter is a nice service, but in my view the privacy of the one individual is vulnerable. It’s easier to say “The user is responsible for the content she/he is posting.”, but what’s about the society trend? “When my neighbor got this, then I’ll have to get it too, because otherwise I’ll be out of fashion.” is the naive mindset of a lot of guys out there – girls as boys. However, Twitter has a positive reverse of the medal too, like the permanently publishing of news from Iran. In this case, Twitter interacts as a channel for distress calls. But it’s just a question of time how long the service will still be allowed in Iran. Nokia Siemens Networks company announced in a statement, that they have sold surveillance technologies to the telecommunication section of the Iranian government, but not technologies like Deep-Packet-Inspection. Whatever the radical government in Iran got of the NSN company, belongs now to them and they can use it whenever they want to surveillance their own people and track them down. And that because of a company which wanted to make as much profit as possible. Claudia Roth hit the nail right on the head.

Profit doesn’t justify the ignorance of human rights and the humaneness!
